E-Mail and Newsletter Templates

The deployment of e-mail is an integral part of the Online Marketing Cockpit. For this functionality, two distinct fields of application exist:

  • Deploying mailings to recipients that were selected manually or by means of a collection or stored query.

  • Automatically or manually triggered e-mail deployment when particular events occur, for example when an inquiry is extended.

The contents of e-mails sent out in conjunction with a mailing is created in the context of this particular mailing (or newsletter). For the deployment of event-based e-mails, however, so-called e-mail templates are used because these e-mails usually consist of text fragments that are hardly ever modified once they have been set up. These templates are part of the general configuration settings.

E-mails of both types can be personalized by means of a template language, Liquid. Liquid has a straightforward syntax that covers everything required for generating e-mails or other content: loops, conditional evaluation, variables and much more.

Before an e-mail is deployed, the OMC sends its subject and contents through the built-in Liquid processor, as a result of which the final e-mail is generated.
